Friendship

"A true friend reaches for your hand
and touches your heart"

Friendship is one of the most important blessings we have.  It must be nurtured and grown.    I have people in my life who are not only relatives, but friends.  I have become close to my niece this summer and now consider her one of my best friends.  We go to Smart Barre together .  She is 20 years younger than me, but encourages me daily.

I have a handful of women I taught school with that are close friends.  Some of us have retired, a couple changed careers, and there are a few that remain teaching.  We are all busy, yet make time for each other each month for lunch, dinner, or the movies.  I know I can call them at any time and they will be there.

I love to spend time with my adult children and their families,

I married my best friend.  Paul and I have been married for 38 years this August.

You never know where you will meet a friend.  I met a woman on the beach in Florida while on vacation.  We only talked for about 30 minutes, but discovered several similarities in our lives.  I keep in touch with her on the internet and consider her a friend.

Friends are important!  They are a blessing!  I hope to make many more friends through this blog.

See y'all,
Becky

P.S.  Reach out and touch a heart today.

Time for a change

My body has entered a new era and I do not care for it.  In the past 10 years, I have gained weight and gravity has set in.  So.... I have decided that the time has come to stop ignoring this problem and deal with it.  When it is difficult to get up and down and chase after my precious Myla, it is time for a change.

Four weeks ago, I started going to Smart Barre classes.  Smart Barre is a combination of Pilates, yoga, and ballet.  I call it my torture treatment, but I actually feel better after going to class.  And yes, I am participating, not merely observing.  Last Friday I actually got my leg up on the ballet barre!  I totally deserved a high five!  The next step that definitely needs some consistency is eating healthy.  I eat responsibly for five days and then go berserk!  Sugar, salt, caffeine, all the bad stuff that is bad for you, but so good.  I am posting a picture of my chubby self in hopes that I will be more consistent in making better choices.  Giving up my adored Coca Cola for water is a challenge I accept.  Giving up my salt?  No thank you.

I am going to hold myself accountable to all if you and keep you informed.  Please share any helpful advice that you might have.

See y'all,
Becky
